Make your (work) life better after holidays: this is how!
Holidays are a good moment to plant seeds for changes, even small ones, to improve your routine at work and on your free time when you are back. Whether you already had your holidays or are just about to start them, I’d like to invite you to think about WHAT you want to change in your daily routine to work and live better.
Would you like to eat more healthily? Exercise more? Be friendlier to people close to you? Would you like to speak out more in meetings at work; open your mouth and tell your opinion? Or maybe the opposite, invite more often other people to speak up?
The smaller and the more precise your objective is, the easier it is to make it really happen. Think about how you will feel when you have achieved it. Think about how this small change can be seen in your behavior. Write it even down on paper. This way the change you want to create starts living already in your mind.
Sometimes (quite often even) we struggle with making the changes we want really happen. This is because we ignore what pulls us back. What do you do instead when you don’t speak up? Shut down and think inside your head that the idea discussed is not going to work? What pulls you from speaking up? Fear of judgement? Having your comment ignored?
Name your enemy. When you specify the moments and the reasons for which the change hasn’t happened earlier, it will be easier to spot the moment of discouragement and act differently this time.
At the end it’s about doing that one little thing differently, and you have all the power to do that. Would you like to be more brave, confident, sportive, or a better listener? Fake it until you make it!
